Christmas Vacation - 2004

On December 18th my wife graduated from MTSU with a degree in mathematics. On December 19th we went to Indiana for a vacation and celebration. We spent Sunday night in Evansville, had dinner in Newburg, at the Edgewater Grill overlooking the Ohio River. The next day we drove to Nashville, Indiana to our cabin, five miles down a gravel road, overlooking Monroe Lake.

The first day we went back to the town of Nashville and walked around. This is an artists community with some interesting shops and restaurants. Later that afternoon, back at the cabin, we walked down to the lake and saw a pair of bald eagles that nest at the lake. The next day we awakened to eight inches of snow on the ground.

That day there was an additional four inches of snow that fell. By the next afternoon, a total of 24" of snow had fallen. We ended up staying an extra night and day in Nashville, and then stopping for the night in Louisville on our way home. Below are some more pictures taken the first day of snow.

The day of the 24" snow fall my wife and I played a few games of nine-ball. The cabin has a pool table in the lower level. She won the first two games, and I was feeling a little humiliated, so she suggested we continue and play best out of three. Go figure!

Anyway, our hosts Doug and Nancy Tracey (Moondance Vacation Homes) own several rental properties in and around Nashville. I would recommend them if you want to stay in this area. There is a lot of hiking, biking, relaxing, photography, and shopping at the artist community. Brown County, Indiana is a great place to go on a vacation, and it is not that far in terms of driving time.
