July - August 2007 Trip to Washington State.
July 31st we flew to the Seattle-Tacoma airport, rented a car and headed to Bainbridge Island for a week in the Pacific Northwest. This is a shot of Mt. Ranier from the plane. We were actually flying below the top of the mountain by 2000 feet.
We had to take a ferry to the island. The state of Washington runs the largest fleet of passenger and automobile ferries in the United States and the third largest in the world. This is a shot taken from the ferry as we left for the island.
Another shot showing a cruise ship in Seattle harbor.
We rented a house on the island called Eagle's Perch. This was an appropriate name as a golden eagle spent the mornings in a tree off of the rear deck. From the deck you could see Mt. Ranier to the left and Mt. Baker to the right. You can see it was a little foggy when I took these pictures of the mountains.
We spent the week traveling to the Olympic Peninsula to the coast and the rain forest; going north of Seattle to Bellingham and Fairhaven, and many points in between. The following are from the various trips.
Lake Crescent:
You can't believe how clear the water is. This photo is not altered.
A friend we met on a hike:
He was willing to stay there for a number of photographs. Quite the little ham.
We went to Bellingham/Fairhaven on two of the days we were there. This is a
photo of a car's bumper sticker that I thought was interesting. Apparently I am
not the only one that feels this way.
We plan on moving to this area when we retire and building a house and spending our time gardening, photographing, hiking, biking, and enjoying the beauty of this world that God has blessed us with.
